Hi there! I’m Hunter. I’m a mother of a two-year-old daughter, married to my British husband, and we live in Northwest Florida along the beautiful white, sandy beaches. I share about sacred & slow living as well as my own personal journey in being a mother and a creative. Make sure to subscribe to have my posts delivered directly to your inbox. Thank you for being here.
Hello, friend. And welcome to this week’s Simple Things. If you’re in America (like me), then today you are celebrating Thanksgiving. I was trying to decide if I would do a share this week or not, but then I thought, why not make it gratitude-themed? So, today I am bringing you five moments I’ve captured in photos, five things I’m grateful for, and five companies I love to support that are doing Black Friday sales, in case that speaks to you.
There’s so much tragedy and heartache in the world today, so this is my tiny way of trying to bring a little bit of light into our days and remembering that we have so much to be grateful for in the simple, ordinary moments of everyday life.
Five Simple Photos
1 // I’ve been spending loads of time on the beach as I’m all booked up for photoshoots, and it’s been so nice to get to see the sunset each night.
2 // I baked banana bread yesterday, and there is truly no better smell in the world than fresh banana bread in the house. I stand by this statement.
3 // Little Maverick has had a random fever for the past few days, so we’ve been doing endless cuddles and while I hate that she doesn’t feel good, I absolutely love the time together on the couch, watching movies.
4 // We have abandoned the stroller for walking, so much walking, and this was a rare moment where this sweet toddler of mine was actually walking instead of running. I love her so much.
5 // Had my raw milk pickup. I love supporting local farms in this way, and the milk is delicious!
Five Simple Gratitudes
My family, of course. It’s been a hard year for us but we’re rounding it out in so much joy and togetherness. I love laughing with my husband and sleeping curled up with my daughter each night. I love the walks with our dog in the early morning hours. I just love being with my people and enjoying the presence of them.
The autumn leaves. I just cannot get enough of the magic of autumn. I love everything it brings, the early nights and coziness. The Christmas lights already going up. It just gives me such energy and joy.
Creating art. This year I’ve discovered such a love for being creative again, and it’s helped shape every decision I’ve made for my future. It’s the first year I’ve offered my photography professionally, and has been so life-giving being able to create multiple times a week.
Morning cups of tea. Every single morning, I make my husband and I cups of tea and wake him up with his. It’s been such a lovely way to connect first thing, and he told me yesterday that I make the best cup of tea, which feels like such an accomplishment considering we’ve been married five years now and I’m American (he’s British). I’ll take it haha.
I’m beyond grateful for YOU! You who read my words and share my work, you who make me feel seen, and appreciated. I’ve had so many meaningful conversations with those of you who connect here with me, and I’ve come out of this year on Substack with some beautiful new friendships.
Five Simple Sales
I know Black Friday is something we either love or hate, but I do find myself gathering Christmas gifts and having the ability to invest in certain companies I haven’t been able to throughout the year. So here are five companies I love that are doing Black Friday sales…
Walker Family Goods. A wonderful family-owned company (you have to follow them on Instagram!) that creates travel and storage goods. They hold up so well and are beautifully designed. They are offering 30% off everything with the code GIVETHANKS.
Rooted Families & Freely Rooted. (Here’s the link for RF organic and a separate link for RF immersive). I’ve talked about these courses a lot but have truly enjoyed taking them and even more, participating in the community that Kori has built. Both have been revolutionary for me from a health & family perspective. I truly can’t recommend them enough. From now until Monday, they are doing 30% off Freely Rooted and $100 off Rooted Families with the code THANKSGIVING.
Lauren Aston Designs. I discovered Lauren’s knitting company when I lived in the UK, and absolutely love all her chunky knits. She’s hosting a sample sale for Black Friday that you won’t want to miss!
Primally Pure. One of my favorite skincare companies is Primally Pure. They are all-natural and use the highest ingredients in their skincare, essential oils, and candles. I know they are doing Black Friday sales but not sure exactly what, so I will update here once it goes live.
Canyon Leaf. I am SO excited because Canyon Leaf is doing their biggest sale of the year at up to 50% off! I buy all of Maverick’s amber necklaces from here that she has been wearing since she was four months old. Amber is supposed to help with teething pain and is a great grounding energy for littles (and bigs!).
Yin Yoga Mats. Okay I know I was only going to do five but I had to mention my favorite yoga mat company. I’ve ordered three yoga mats from them over the years and each one has held up beautifully, plus they have the most amazing designs and great customer service. Based in Australia. They are doing up to 60% off on their sale which is an incredible deal.
And there you have it! SO many things I am grateful for. I’d love to know what you are grateful for this holiday season.
Sending you so much love. Now it’s time to go decorate for Christmas!
This list made me so quietly happy, like dipping home-made biscuits/cookies in warm milk-tea after a chilly Autumn walk kinda happy. Your list of small things was a joy to read and and I salute you for managing to succeed in the hard task of tea-pleasing a Brit. Yes, I am also (almost) married to one, I know what it entails.
A lovely list of things! Happy thanksgiving to you 💫
