Hi there! I’m Hunter. I’m a mother of a two-year-old daughter, married to my British husband, and we live in Northwest Florida along the beautiful white, sandy beaches. I share about sacred & slow living as well as my own personal journey in being a mother and a creative. Make sure to subscribe to have my posts delivered directly to your inbox. I’m so glad you’re here.
I love this sacred space. The time between Christmas and New Year’s when life feels like only our little bubble and nothing else. It’s a time to dream, to rest, and to cocoon. It felt so magical spending Christmas with a two-year-old and my 88-year-old grandmother. Their energy was so special, and I will forever cherish the memory of my Grammy laughing so hard at my daughter being silly in the new chair my sister gave her. The first thing Maverick does whenever we go to my parent’s house is to find Grammy and bring her out to the living room to play. It’s been incredible to see their relationship blossom, and I love how Maverick seems to give Grammy renewed excitement about life.
I hope you’ve had a wonderful holiday season, and if it wasn’t wonderful, I hope you were able to get some rest and pour into yourself. Onto this week’s simple things…
My sister is getting married in Denver, Colorado next September and today we woke up early to go to the first bridal appointment. She found a dress! I couldn’t have imagined a better experience, sitting with our closest friends we’ve known since we were little, and watching my sister try on dress after dress and look stunning in them all. It’s one of those moments you dream of as kids, and to see it come to fruition has been beautiful.
Teaching Maverick how to pull off the wrapping paper on her gifts was hilarious. She was so timid about it, and I loved watching her pull each piece back and look at me, unsure if she could actually rip the paper. Once she got into it, it was so fun to see her excitement over the gifts. And of course, she loved the boxes they all came in even more.
My husband gifted me
’s book, The Way of the Fearless Writer, and I spent most of the afternoon devouring its pages. I am loving exploring my writing more and am beginning to plan for how my Substack will look in the new year. This has been such a life-giving, supportive community and I can’t wait to continue nurturing it, and all of you magical souls, in 2024.I normally put very strict limits on my TikTok use because it can be so easy to get sucked in there and then have hours pass without realizing it. But, I have been obsessed with
’s content around wellbeing and yoga (and her home style is gorgeous) on TikTok and found Caroline McQuistin through her, and am in love with her life on the Isle of Skye. I literally log in each day and search both of them, watch their videos, then log off. Truly recommend following them both for slow living, self-care, happy videos. And follow Jodie’s Substack here called .I absolutely loved this post by
about magic moments. It’s something I share a lot about here too and it’s so special to see someone else who writes about it so beautifully. I loved her list of magic moments and finding the joy in the every day mundane.
And there you have it! I’d love to know what magically mundane thing you’ve experienced this week that has brought you joy.
Thank you so much for sharing my post Magic Moments Hunter. It means so much! And still feels very surreal seeing my name tagged in your beautiful words!
I think in amongst this busy, loud and often rushed season, it is nice to be reminded of all the wonderful mini moments of magic available to us all each and every day.
So excited to see where 2024 takes all of us in this Substack world! I feel like I have a front row seat to so many wonderful and inspiring people and writers.
Lovely. My husband got me that book too but I haven't started it yet.
