Hi there! I’m Hunter. I’m a mother of a two-year-old daughter, married to my British husband, and we live in Northwest Florida along the beautiful white, sandy beaches. I share about sacred & slow living as well as my own personal journey in motherhood. Make sure to subscribe to have my posts delivered directly to your inbox. Thank you for being here.
Oh, hello there. How are you? At the time of writing this, I had just made my toddler lunch. I went through option after option before she won out and finished up a pack of Pringles. It makes me laugh how much we try to nourish our kids with good food and a lot of times, for us, it does happen. Maverick isn’t a picky eater, but then some days she’ll want nothing but french fries and Pringles. And I do my best to trust that she knows her body and that in the end, it’s up to her to decide what’s best. All I can do is guide and hope that I can lead by example. So, I’m a bit tired from the lunch “experience”, but overall am fulfilled by the joy of raising this little babe.
This week’s simple things includes a few items I’ve been loving, some courses/mentorship and a post I resonated with here on Substack. Hope you enjoy!
We’ve been trying to organize our living room as it’s turned into a very toy-centric space, which is of course what we signed up for, but we wanted some storage to make it look a bit more clean when she isn’t playing. We bought this Montessori-inspired bookshelf so Maverick can still reach all her books, but they are stored in a cute way otherwise. And I LOVE it. It’s the perfect size for her and something we can put in her room once she gets older. Highly recommend.
I just downloaded Talking At Night by Claire Daverley on my Kindle after seeing a recommendation for it earlier this week. It’s supposed to be very Normal People by Sally Rooney-esque, and I loved that book, so excited to dive into this for a fun fiction read.
I am a course-obsessive (it’s actually something I’ve been thinking about lately and how I consume knowledge but then fall short of always integrating it. This post really made me reflect for the future.) and there are very few that I actually finish going through and embodying, but the one that has been most impactful for me is Kori Meloy’s Freely Rooted course on bioenergetic nutrition. Ironically, it wasn’t the nutrition aspect of the course that appealed to me most (though I utilize that aspect daily). It was the family integration, energetics, and movement opportunities that she shared within the Facebook group. This week she released a new course called Rooted Families all about fascia repatterning, her family’s personal integration story, Bowspring, and more. She’s co-created it with her husband and their mentor, Michale Chatham (the queen of tongue & lip tie knowledge in babies) and I am SO excited to be a part of it and learn from them. I did some body massage on Maverick last night after taking that part of the course, and I swear the child who never sits still laid across me for well over 20 minutes and was so relaxed. It was amazing. I’d love for you to join me in learning (and integrating) over there!
Oooh I am SO excited about this one. My sweet Substack friend
is hosting a mastermind for mothers called The MotherMind starting in November and running through May. The MotherMind will include live calls, ongoing support, circles, and a website portal to host it all. She will specifically be diving into the elements of your foundations, essence, and expansion, and utilizing your Human Design will be a huge part of it too. I recently did a 1-1 session with Lauren and had some beautiful aha moments around my business, so I know this container of hers is going to be incredibly potent. If you’re feeling called, definitely reach out to Lauren as I know she’d be happy to chat and answer any questions for you.- wrote this beautiful description of the process of making soup, but it was really about so much more. Plus, she shared some resources surrounding the current events happening in Palestine and Israel. I think as creatives, it’s more important in times like these to continue showing up and offering our perspectives. I think Erin always does a great job of mixing her writing with tough subjects, and this post of hers is no different.
And there you have it! I’d love to know what magically mundane thing you’ve experienced this week that has brought you joy.
We’re away on holiday this week in the Lake District - our first trip with our nearly 5-month-old son. We’ve had some of the most perfect autumn days: crisp and cool with wide blue skies. We also had the first frost of the year which I got to experience out on an morning walk one day when baba decided to start the morning early. Walking through the frosted fields with my son snuggled against my chest in his carrier and our springer spaniel cavorting around my feet has been one of many magical, mundane moments this week.✨
Oh Hunter you are the loveliest for sharing my heart work! Thank you! And I so enjoyed our session together, can’t wait to see all the magic you create!
The Pringles made me laugh... when I was pregnant with Vesper I survived for a good few weeks eating only salt and vinegar Pringles dipped in Philadelphia cream cheese... and now everytime we see Pringles in the shops Sophia points them out and says look Mummy your crisps!! It’s probably the only time in my life I’ve eaten them and that’s a lasting memory for S now!!! 🤪🤪🤪
That course sounds fascinating... I would love to do something like that. Must not sign up for anything new this year though!!!!! 🤪
Love your round ups always! Thank you xx
