Hi there! I’m Hunter. I’m a mother of a two-year-old daughter, married to my British husband, and we live in Northwest Florida along the beautiful white, sandy beaches. I share about sacred & slow living as well as my own personal journey in being a mother and a creative. Make sure to subscribe to have my posts delivered directly to your inbox. Happy Thursday, friend. How are you? This week has been so life-giving for me, just in the fact that it’s been insanely simple and slow. I had a quiet week and was able to just ponder and wander, and am feeling so inspired now that I’ve taken that time for myself. It’s really hard to do but crucial, especially when living a creative life.
I’m packing today because, by the time you read this, we’ll be driving down to Disney World for the weekend! We’re meeting one of my childhood friends and her husband, and I can’t wait to chase Maverick around the parks, ride some rides, eat some yummy food, and just hang out with my best friend feeling like kids again.
This week’s simple things include some magically mundane moments I’ve had as well as a few posts I’ve been loving. Hope you enjoy!
GUYS. I have officially made it. This week, I am now in 3 (yes 3!) group chats about acquiring raw milk each week 😂. My chats were popping off the other day and Matt was like, “what in the world are you doing?” I was so proud to tell him that I’m in my raw milk dealer chats. It feels a bit exclusive to get on the raw milk list, especially because all of our farms are over an hour away so someone has to go either pick them up from the farm or meet the farmer halfway, and then bring them to a drop-off location for everyone else to get. It’s a process, but I’m officially in the cool club and couldn’t be prouder. 🤣 This is the joy of being an adult.
As mentioned in last week’s simple things, I started Kori Meloy’s new Rooted Families course and literally devoured the content in a week. She has two Bowspring classes in the course and I did my first one the other day. It’s crazy how just one class can re-align your spine, and give you this rooted space like never before. I felt really good afterward, and am really excited to continue the journey.
We live on my parent’s property, and they have a big pool. My sister was in town last week from Colorado, so my dad heated up the pool and we’ve been doing nightly swims. It’s been SO much fun. Maverick absolutely lives for pool time, and we’ve spent hours upon hours playing games, swimming around, and jumping off things into the pool. At one point Matt even considered turning Maverick’s backyard slide into a pool slide. We had the best time and I’m missing my sister big time as she headed back to Colorado yesterday.
I absolutely loved reading
’s post about 6 Ancient and Peaceful Halloween Traditions To Try This Year. She shares the history behind the pagan tradition of Sahmain, the history of Halloween, and then some special ways to ring in the holiday. My favorite idea was making Soul Cakes, I feel like that’s such a fun way to celebrate with littles, and I definitely plan to do that with Maverick. Give it a read to get inspired for the season!- celebrated her first year here on Substack and shared a peek behind the veils of the process in her post, Look dad! I’m a paid writer. Kat is such an advocate for fellow mother makers to find success. She truly gets behind each and every person in her circle and roots them on in the best way. Plus, she embodies the art she shares through her writing. She’s such a gem, and if you aren’t following her already, you MUST. Congrats Kat on a magical first year!
And there you have it! I’d love to know what magically mundane thing you’ve experienced this week that has brought you joy.
Ah, thanks so much for the mention. And have a great trip! 💫
So happy to have landed on "The magically Mundane!" We are kind-a neighbors as I live in Georgia...but had to say hi and let you know how happy I am to find a Southeastern neighbor here on s/s! Looking forward to getting to know you better as I carve out some time to dig deep into your little corner of substack! xoxo
