Mmmm this is so lovely to read! I LOVE being barefoot!! One of my fave things to do is hang the washing out on the line SLOWLY in barefeet! It’s like a double whammy joy hit! But my fave HAS to be star gazing!!!! When we go to France in the summer to see my parents they live in an area with so little light pollution and the sky just blows my mind!!!!! Xx
Being barefoot is the best!! I try to keep Maverick barefoot as much as possible and have definitely gotten a few looks and "where are her shoes?" but I think it's so important for her especially as she's learning to walk (and run) well!
Oooh hanging the washing out barefoot sounds like a dream! And wow, stargazing in France is incredible!! I bet you can see some beautiful skies out there. Love it!!
What a beautiful post and oh my gosh - sun tea 🌞 who would have thought! I’ve been picking fresh mint for infusions for a few weeks now but I’m going to try the sun tea idea.
Today was cloudy and not summer and now it’s sunny and definitely summer!!! ✨🌞✨🌱
I’ve kept my white sheets all year round this year because it felt so calm in the bedroom and we’ve just gone through so much so I’ll keep going with white but have some cosy green ones for when autumn hits again. 🍂
What beautiful suggestions, Hunter, love this post! I totally agree that walking bearfoot, hearing the rain on a warm day, and foraging are some of the best slow living things you can do in summer. Can't wait to get my toes out at the beach soon! I also love driving with the windows down, music on, singing along to some feel-good tunes - did that today on the way to my Mum's and think it was as good for me as a meditation. 😆🎵
Thank you Charlene!! Ahh yes, barefoot walking I feel like is a must. Oooh I didn't even think about driving and singing withe the windows down! That is quintessentially summer, you're so right! It really does feel like a meditation.
I agree that preserving summer fruit and vegetables is very hygge! I was looking at my gooseberries today with that in mind :) I make half into jam then the rest are frozen and used in desserts. The raspberries go the same way! Though some never make it back from the allotment of course :)
Oooh, gooseberry jam sounds AMAZING! I have a friend with blueberry bushes and whenever we go pick them we have like half the amount by the time we get home because they're just so good! 😂
Some lovely invitations to squeeze the very best out of these summer days... Slowly! I totally agree on the bedding front. I have my cool sheets hanging on the line right now since there is nothing better than the smell of line-dried sheets as often as possible even when they're not strictly necessary...😉
Oh, absolutely! Only really possible here from May-September and then I hoard them until I have enough to merit a load at the laundrette... which I do not wash, dry or fold myself! I hope you are having a lovely trip so far!
Some gorgeous ideas here. I've just got back into wild swimming and it feels like the most perfect slow living activity during summer. The sense of release is incredible, you can't help but laugh when the water is a little colder too, I think part of it is also the sense of achievement afterwards and managing to withstand the colder spring water.
I love these, Hunter! I really don’t do well in the heat being from the UK, so I struggle to find happiness in the summer and can really dread it approaching. Your post has helped me to recognise other ways to enjoy a magical moment in the summer, so thank you so much for sharing!
We’ll definitely be heading to the lake one weekend when it’s hot out 🥰

Thankyou for your lovely words here Hunter! ✨💌⚖️
You have to try sun tea and tell me what you think!
The weather never knows what it wants to do this time of year, especially in the Northeast I feel like 😂
Love a good set of white cotton sheets! They sound lovely. And the green sounds wonderful too!!

That’s so lucky! It’s hard to grow good blueberries in the uk!

Ahhh yesss! The right bedding is a MUST in the summer! Love that you line-dry them too!!

Love that! It's definitely about balance, isn't it? 😂
Thank you!! We're off to a very happy and jet-lagged start! Can't wait to share more!
Looking very much forward to seeing more of your adventures! Onwards!
Reading from the other hemisphere. Lovely tips.

Thanks so much! Oooh I bet you've got some incredible things growing this year!!
You'll have to tell me if you remember! I feel like there has to be some equivalent? I've never heard of one, though.
Vitamin Sea during the summer is the best!! Hope you're able to get lots of those days in the next few months.
